The powwow singers are greatly respected, because without them there would be no dancing. Many young singers dream of a chance to sing with one of the most famous and respected drum groups. The older singers pass on their knowledge of the origin and correct use of the songs to the next generation, and many children grow up near the drum and sit on the singers laps while they sing.

Danish drum groups
Presently there are two drum groups in Denmark; Red Calf Singers based in Copenhagen (Eastern part of Denmark) and Four Winds Above Singers based in Århus (Western part of Denmark).
